Boyer Safety Services, Inc. was notified by the Florida Bureau of LP Gas Inspections that its application for approval of two LP Gas classes was accepted.  Boyer Safety Services, Inc. will now offer both the CETP "Basic Principles and Practices" and CETP "Propane Delivery" classes. Each of these classes have been approved for 4 CEUs each. These CEUs can be used to satisfy a propane industry worker's requirements that they obtain 12 CEUs every three years. Listed below is a brief summary of each of the classes:

CETP, "Basic Principles and Practices"-2 days, Florida Approval #: 00402

Course Description
This class is the first of a series of seven courses sponsored through the National Propane Gas Association and the Propane Education Research Council (PERC). This class discusses the physical properties and combustion characteristics of propane, identification of propane industry standards, safety codes and associated regulations, identifying the basic parts of tanks, cylinders and bulk storage installation, maintaining a safe working environment and identifying commonly used tools and supplies. There is also an important segment that deals with serving the customer

Course objectives and goals
At the conclusion of this class, the student will have mastered the following course objectives:

·        the physical properties of propane

·        the combustion characteristics of propane

·        the various propane industry standards, safety codes and regulations that apply to their duties including the Florida state LP Gas statutes

·        the features of residential propane gas systems

·        the features basic to ASME tanks

·        the features basic to DOT tanks and cylinders

·        the features common to bulk storage installations

·        safe work practices

·        the selection and safe use of personal protective equipment

·        the proper use of tools and equipment common to the propane industry

·        identification of piping and tubing materials, fittings, and associated tools/supplies commonly used by the propane industry

·        the major propane customers and their various applications

·        concepts to develop and maintain good customer relations

CETP, "Propane Delivery"-3 days, Florida Approval #: 00401

Course Description
This class is the second of a series of seven courses sponsored through the National Propane Gas Association and the Propane Education Research Council (PERC). This class provides in-depth instruction on the inspection, maintenance and operation of propane delivery trucks including bobtails, transport and cylinder delivery trucks. Additionally, proper filling procedures for both the cargo tank and customer’s tank is discussed.

Course objectives and goals
At the conclusion of this class, the student will have mastered the following course objectives:

·        the various inspection, maintenance and repair requirements of the Department of Transportation

·        emergency response driving techniques

·        proper parking and garaging of propane delivery vehicles

·        the identification of various propane storage containers

·        the proper procedures for filling storage containers and cargo tanks on bobtails and transports

·        the proper procedures to deliver propane cylinders

·        the proper procedures to deliver propane while using a bulk delivery vehicle

·        the proper method to evacuate propane tanks

Students will receive a 3-ring binder study book along with various training aids, handouts and miscellaneous material. They will also be given a CETP certification test during the afternoon of the final day that will be sent to the NPGA for grading. If the student passes the certification test and otherwise meets all other requirements, he/she will be CETP-certified, an achievement that is accepted throughout the United States.
